Gas tank strap padding
I bought a new fuel tank and new lower straps for my 73 because the old tank was worn through at one of the straps, patched poorly and leaking.
The old straps had some sort of rubber on them (most of which was deteriorated)
Does anyone know where I could buy this stuff?, because my new straps don't have it or is it not neccesary?
Also is there any place to buy new upper straps?

I used the same material that is used to retain the door glass in the door glass retainer.
It's available from LMC. P/N 49-9300 $12.95. One is more than enough to do both straps, plus one side is sticky so it makes it easy to install.

I ended up using some rubber strips from toolbox mounting kits that I had laying around at work. Material was around 1/8" thick by around 3" wide.
Sometimes you just need to be creative!
