tank straps issuse

Hi... was told to get some lower tank straps cause my skid plate was starting to rust out... got lower straps to hold the tank up... well ordered some from o'reilly auto parts they sell one size to fit both 33 gal tanks as well as the 25 gal. same part number??? got them today pushed the tank up as far as it would go and the straps are about 6+ inches short. (part st- 26) the ones i purchased are 29" length. they are identical to the top ones... any ideas on what actual length straps i need and a place to purchase them? getting really frustrated cause im about to move and need the tank on in order to move it to the new place. it's about 10miles from where im at now. Any input?feedback would be excellent. thank you.

Just get a flat strip of metal long enough. Then bend it to the shape of the strap, drill holes in the ends to mount it.

Forgot to mention, you don't need a 3/8 thick tank strap either. You should be able to bend the strip by hand of using a BFA and a vise.

There are no lower straps listed in the Ford parts catalog for the 33 gallon tank.

2) D8TZ-9053-A .. Lower Fuel Tank Strap-Use with 25.5 gallon tank / Obsolete

1978/91 Bronco.

No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

My 1990 Bronco 5.0L AOD trans, has a full skid plate for holding up the fuel tank.
the skid plate has 4 bolts and nuts on the front side, bends down and around and back up to the rear side of the gas tank 4 bolts and nuts. There are two straps over the top.

If you want to drop the tank you have to drop the skid plate, the tank comes down with it.

part number for 1990 bronco 9A147

Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has straps for 1978 for about 50.
