Sorry for the hijack, but the people who know have just been chiming in.
I bought a second spare PCM with VXAN0 or VXAM0 strategy (early '03). I ran this briefly to make sure it worked and everything seemed fine, no codes and truck had the aggressive tow/haul back (original pcm has 06E17 recall flash). So the PCM does contain VIN and build data other than just 6L/Auto? I've been thinking about running the other PCM full time, but this makes me think otherwise.
Thanks cheezit, so are you saying the pcm data is generic between all the 6L/Auto trucks of the same year and strategy, or that it does contain VIN and other data but running it won't hurt anything?
it shoudl have a vin in it. but the pcm is somewhat generic with info. I have aba swaped a few for testing and the worst I have got was a vid mismatch error but everything works
I am very pleased with my Insight CTS. Today while looking for Cheezit's MPG PID I saw Turbo Boost hit enter and took it for a run and I am getting Boost pressures anywhere between 6 and 18 with normal driving. I also have EOT, ECT and TFT. The only short coming is the display has no color except in analog function. I monitor ECT, EOT, TFT, EGT and Turbo Boost. What do you think are the most important numbers to read?
He means that if you select to monitor more than 3 PIDS, the background will go to black, and the screen will split into X amount of squares, depending on how many PIDS you want to monitor. If you select Analog, the background is customizable, and with color. The downfall to analog is you can only monitor 3 PID's.
Is analog a display mode though or does the device gather data differently? Is it just an analog gauge readout instead of digits?
Yes, analog is a display mode. If you look on the Edge website at the CS/CTS, you'll see the analog screen. There are digits, along with 2 analog 'gauges'. You can select what PID's you want to see with the analog gauges, and then there is a digit only monitor on the bottom middle of the analog gauges.
If you choose to monitor more than 3 PID's, there are only digits...
