When I accelerate my boost gauge hardly moves, my 6 gun tuner reads boost pressure from the computer but it only goes to 17. When my 6 gun is reading 17 lbs of boost my boost gauge is reading under 10. I am thinking I have a leak of some sorts but where do I start? The "T" fitting that came with the autometer gauge looks like a cheap piece of plastic, and the tubes connecting to it dont have any type of hose clamp on it. I saw someone on here had a brass fitting. I am wondering if that would help. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
I had the same exact problem with the Kinking. The autometers came with that straw material hose. I wasnt very happy with that. But i had to cut the end off and go get new compression fittings. I think it was a buck for 5 fittings. Just make sure that you know where that hose is when you go to put your a pillar back on. Good luck!
It could be your gauge. My Autometer boost guage all of a sudden started reading a few pounds low. I replaced all the tubing and the connectors. They warrantied the gauge itself and the problem was fixed. It ended up the gauge failed for some reason. But, they were very courteous and quick to take care of it.
KrenzyRyan,
I really like the setup tapping the boost tube like that. If you could give me some more info, parts, size bit and fittings I would appreciate it. Did you have to get a longer tube? How long did it take?
I am going to contact Autometer and see if they can help. Maybe I can get another gauge. Thanks for the help guys I will keep you posted.
Where can I get new compression fittings for my boost gauge? I didnt have time this weekend to work on the truck, I am going to call Autometer on Mon and ask them if there is anything they can do to help me out. Is there anything else I should check? Thanks Guys.
What size fittings are they? I will go by Ace tomorrow and start there. There is a white plastic T-fitting that the boost tube connects to, this thing looks cheap and the hoses that are connected to it seem loose. Well Thanks again, I will keep you posted.
You're welcome. You'll see the ferrules and compression fittings for the 1/8" tubing. You should recognize them when you see them, from when you installed your gauge the first time. Your best bet is to take your gauge off entirely and take it in the hardware store with you.
That's the problem I am having, I wasn't comfortable enough in my limited wrenching skills to install my gauges. I can work on motorcycles no problem. But I am pretty sure that it is the fittings. I will check them on Mon as well as contact Autometer. I want to try and trouble shoot it and if I do have to take it back to where I got them installed (DH Built) then I will be able to explain it better. Hopefully it is a matter of just swapping the fittings or the gauges.
I just did the above this weeken when installing my ATS housing. got a 1/8" compression fitting to 1/8" pipe, drilled an taped the top of the Y pipe on the cold side. not sure if its from having the gauge read right from the Y or i tightend the hell outa my boots, but I see about 3-4psi increase. use to have it T'ed into the MAP hose. I now see 15-16psi going up a 6% grade at 70mph use to be 11-13psi, all with no chip
