Hey there Darrell..

Well the project isnt entirely finished.. I had more done to it then just the diesel swap, I also took on a huge project of turning it into a 4-wheel drive from being 2-wheel drive.

If I were to put a time line on it.. it didnt take too long honestly. I dedicated solid days to it, and if a person has the donor truck, it goes even faster!

It took me about two full days to strip down the donor truck. This included the engine, trans, rear diff, fuel lines, tanks, dash, wiring in both the cab and engine compartment.

It took me only a day to strip down my gasser. The parts on the gasser were a lot lighter and easily managable, which made it easier for me when I was the only one around and had no help.

Whats nice, is that for the most part, its plug and play! Very few things I had to modify. Things such as the motor mounts on the gasser had to be cut off, firewall shaped for a large down pipe for the diesel. The chassis has almost all the holes precut for either diesel or gas from the factory. So its mostly cleaning out all the gas components, then adding in the diesel.

If a person pushed hard, it could be done under a week. As for difficulty.. Not really. If you can spin a wrench, a little know how, its very much worth it!!! And FTE helps, LOL!

It was soooo much cheaper for me to do the swap, then to look for a decent running truck of the same caliber!

Does that help any?

Chris

In my opinion, I would definately go with 3/4 ton suspension.. A person could slide away on the 1/2 ton andmake it work, but sag after time would probably happen, the it would be an irritation.
