Hi I could use some help. I searched and didn't find any help or similar question before. I have a 03 7.3 f250. All stock 65xxx miles. This noise has become much more frequent. When i hit the brakes it stops. Also when i use the turn signals it stops. I disconnected my brake controller as the sound seemed to come from it but that didn't fix it. No check engine light or codes. any help would be great. thanks
I wish i could describe it better. It is definitely something electronic. I haven't ruled out a possible arcing? It didn't do it today. Although lately i have had alot of the power windows/radio not working right after startup. Probably unrelated as it did that today but not the scratching. The noise is bad enough that i have driven around with my turn signal on.
I have the exact same issue.... only mine came in March and lasted till about the end of May and I havent heard it since?? It did the same last year at about the same time.
The best way that i can describe it is an arching out sound..... not too loud but loud enough to be heard and not be missed. There are no arch marks that i can find and even odder than that is that it only seems to happen in the spring time for me.
my truck is a 03 crew cab, long box, srw with 165,000

Did you ever find a fix for this, mine is doing the same thing, but it is coming out of the turn signal relay. I took out the relay, and the sound stops, but no turn signals. Plug it back in and have turn signals, but static again. Bought the turn signal relay from Ford, put it in, and same problem. UGH!!!!
STATIC!!! thats a good way to describe it. the turn signal relay.....hmmmmm but a new relay doesn't fix it? that is odd but it does give us something to go on....
thanks for your input

T-wood - I thought I was the only one with the power windows/radio not working after startup because I thought it had something to do with an aftermarket remote alarm/starter installed prior to me buying my truck a few years back. Although believe it or not, when that happens, I flip the dome light on and off and the windows/radio works again. Weirdest ever! I've just learned to deal with it since it doesnt happen all the time.
Thanks Mikey i am going to try that in the morning. It sucks when i run out to roll up the windows before a rain and have to wait for 5 minutes. Or trying to back a trailer right after startup and i can't roll the windows down. Yea i think i can handle this querk.
Who knows about the STATIC. which is a great description by the way. I'll keep checking here. Maybe i have to move the seat up and down to get the static to stop?
also forgot to mention its the roller switch near the headlight switch, not the switches on the roof itself. good luck, let me know if it works for you, maybe we can figure this dang thing out!
I'm betting this has to do with the powersave relay or whatever it's called. It's the relay that shuts off the dome lights and power windows if the truck is off when you open the door....
IIRC it is located in the instrument cluster as is non serviceable. You have to change the whole cluster.
I am not 100% sure yet, but I have found another thread and it was said that it is the multifunction switch, turn signal module that the turn signal relay plugs into that is the problem. I found it at tasca for $79 plus shipping and tax. Hopefully I will have it in this week, and the thing will finally be fixed!!
