I tried this over in the 6.0 forum but didn't get anything so hopefully someone here will have an idea...
After driving for about 15 minutes, once it is warmed up, at acceleration & low rpm's, there is a vibration, mild grinding noise. Once you get to mid-range and up on the rpm's, it goes away. When cruising down the highway at normal speeds and a consistant rpm...no noise. Idling at, and taking off from a stop light, I get the noise. The longer it is driven, the more noticeable the noise is. Possible torque converter??? Thanks!
I see your bottom cover is already off. Check around with that hose, hold it to the exhaust cat also, plus you can tape it to a funnel for a little broader noise range.
That is a flex plate cracking / failing. It's about $145 piece on the 7.3, so I would think it's about the same for 6.0. You can get more expensive / billet ones if you search around, they are more expensive though.
Transmission needs to be pulled to replace, but beyond that I don't know since I have not personally replaced one.
Wow, that could have done a LOT of damage. Pull the trans with the converter, unbolt what's left of the plate, and bolt a new one in. Hopefully the starter will sound the same and also; no balancing is needed.
