Brake Issue

My son came home this evening saying that the brakes on the truck (1997 F150 2wd) were bad. I thought that was a little weird as the pads have 80% life, and the rotors were new when I changed the pads. The brake pedal seems a little spongy lately, but I hadn't noticed any problems. I took it for a test drive and only made it about 50 feet before I pulled back into the driveway. When I backed out I didn't notice anything. As soon as I put it into drive and began to move forward I heard a grinding noise. When I applied the brake the brakes activated with a loud banging noise and locked up, bringing the truck to a dead stop. When I let off the brake pedal the brakes stayed locked up. When I applied the brake again, same banging noise and lock up. Any ideas?

Eureka! I found the problem. One of the caliper bolts on the passenger side came loose and the caliper is rubbing the inside of the rim. $6 fix.

With only 22 minutes between your first post and your eureka moment doesn't give us here much time to show off our stuff. Glad it was an easy fix.
