I plan on a complete rebuild of my engine and I was wondering if it turns out i have a 360 what would I have to do to make it a 390. Is it just a bore, and the heads? (aside from obviously getting the kit for a 390 so i can have the right pistons) Do i have to get a different crank? or rods?
Right on, so i just get a 390 rebuilt kit, pull a crank and rods from a
390, have everything machined and im good to go? (well... a little more complicated, im sure, but thats the basic idea?)

That's pretty much right. The only difference between the 360 and 390 is the stroke. Everything else is the same. To do the conversion you'll need a 390 crankshaft (2U casting number) and the 390 connecting rods (C7AE-B casting number). The stroke on the 390 is 3.78" vs. 3.50" for the 360. The heads are the same on either engine.
