The only other thing i can think of at the moment is where the temp sensor was mounted , maybe getting a different reading....Lew

Sorry for all the posts but i think you can move the temp sensor to different places to fool the computer about the air temp , i heard something about that on a mustang forum , never tried it....

I have to feel that the problem with that FIPK is simply the K&N filter perhaps? all the tests i have seen for this were all on diesels, not gassers, but most diesel guys will not run a K&N b/c they cannot flow the air we need. most diesel guys use either a really really big open element paper filter or an AFE that flows big air. From the testing i have found on the Amsoil cone filters, they flow a lot of air as well.

Texasguy, my mileage went up 1.5mpg when i switched to an open element filter on my PSD. the stock air box had a scoop that draws air from between the hood and radiator support, and i still saw more mileage. So i have to think either the filter was actually more restrictive than stock or something along those lines, b/c it wasn't temperature of the air.. There is just no way. I have seen tests on CAIs, open elements, and stock boxes. Temps stayed virtually the same through all tests and the open elements drew in more air b/c w/ no box anywhere around it your allowing the filter to draw in air from all possible directions. Size of filter plays a good role in this as well.

I was thinking the same thing about the air temp sensor. On the FIPK for the truck I never liked how it was just sitting there exposed to the elements and dirt etc.

You could be right about that.

I think I mentioned it earlier in this thread, or maybe it was the other intake thread. Anyway, what about fan wash? I have heard the on mass air the fan can cause the mass air meter to get inconsistent readings with an open element air filter.
