I have a 1996 F-250HD with the 7.3L international turbo diesel in it. I want to put just a simple 40 series (part number 952546) flowmaster muffler on it. The flowmaster website says it will fit my truck but i have 3.25in pipe and the mufflers have 2.5in inlet and outlet. Would it hurt it to put it on with that much diffrence in the pipe size?

Who should i go with? i have a really small budget and all im looking for is some tone. I havent found the I/O with it any bigger from flowmasters. Some one told me that the muffler shop would put an adapter for to make it fit and it shouldnt make that big of a diffrence but hes not that reliable when it comes to this kind of stuff.
A muffler shop will put an adapter on it for one purpose only; to sell you a muffler that they have in stock and didn't have to order! The shop that's out to 'just make a buck' doesn't have to drive your truck and they could care less if it actually reduced your horsepower by restricting the pipe going in/out of the muffler.
Look around, there are better choices than a Dronemaster. And get one that's the same size as your pipe or larger.
I would not run Flowmaster on a lawn mower. Why do you want to run a Flowmaster on a diesel? I would run a larger diameter exhaust and just run a long glasspack or a good straight through muffler. If you want to run a performance muffler, take a look at what most of the diesel performance guys are running. You can find these in 4 inch. I would just use that to mate up with your 3.25 inch pipe. I would NOT run a muffler that is smaller than my exhaust system. That makes no sense at all.
