A buddy bought a '99 pickup like mine from a woman. It belonged to her now deceased husband.
We found that sensor and plugged it back in, but speedo still does not work. There has to be something else that is disconnected or disabled. You mentioned ABS and trans. After we connected that sensor the ABS light went off. Could there have been any damage (to tranny or ABS) with that unplugged?
about your dome light problem you can spray wd40 on your door latch to try to free up the switch. the door open/close switch goes bad a lot on your year truck. its on the door latch inside the door. try that and see if it helps. otherwise you probably have to change the switch. i dont think you have a cable to your speedometer.
The trans MIGHT have been damaged, but I doubt it. You should unhook the battery for ~5min so the computer forgets that the sensor was unplugged, and after ~10mi of driving, it will relearn everything.
The speedo also needs power, ground, & switched power, so check it. Sometimes they just go bad, but it's not common.
Thanks for the tips and thats kinda what I figured, but where are these conections? We've looked all over and can't find anything that looks unplugged.
I specialize in '80-96 trucks, so I can't tell you where to look, other than eBay. You can get a Ford Service CD for $5-10 that will show you everything you need and more.
