bad smog pump= run bad?
who has removed their smog pump? without problems to the ecm. I have a 93 5.8 E4OD..... I have cold start problems, erratic Idle and a light throttle surge, could a bad smog pump cause the ecm to throw codes at Idle... or just too much air or fuel? code 327... egr-evp... TPS code as well as a o2 code... changed everything!

i've taken my smog pump off, byjust pulling it off (+ extra check valves, tubes) and did't notice any differenc in anything. i will say that my check engine light has been on since i switched to long tube headers and my O2 sensor cable wont reach. my big problem is that i got a Carquest® K060947 wich is 2420mm long.
it worked for awhile untill i used my ac, it fell of once. i put it back and didn't use the ac for a while. then a couple weeks later i used my ac again and it fell off once more. after that, even without the ac it would fall off. once i was driving home at 2:30am and it came off eight times.
i went to autozone and they said that the Carquest® K060947 was 94.7 inches long and they gave me 2 belts to try, a XXXX945 (misplaces package for exact number) which was 94.5 inches long and another one which was the next size smaller.
the smallest one wouldn't fit and the 94.5 would fit so i took it. it seemed to work fine untill about a week ago when i was running the ac. so far as long as the ac is off it's ok, but it seems like such a wast to have a truck with a perfectly good ac system that you can't use.
i hope this information helps someone, and if anyone have any ideas to address my situation let me know.

I ran a short belt on my truck for a while, too(94 w/302). I had no problems for a long time then all the sudden the belt kept coming off. It had actually rolled over the back of the tensioner pulley and stretched the belt out. Right now, I just put a longer belt back on with the smog pump. I bought a smog pump delete pulley on eBay for $48. Its made by UPR. Its supposed to have a clip so there is no chance the pulley can move or fall off. I should have it this week to install. Can't wait either because the pump's bearings are sqealing like mad.
I'd just reccomend one of those smog pump delete pulley brackets.
