2011 2.5" Receiver

Anybody found a good adjustable hitch for the 2.5" receivers other than DT. It looks like Rapid Hitch only makes them for 2". Not pulling anything too heavy so I could use a reducer, but didn't want to if I don't have to.

Reducer

Yes you can. Most reducers will not work. You will have to purchase a Genuine Ford one. They are not cheap. Around $60.00 There are not many options for the 2 1/2 inch receivers. I would go with the reducer for loads under~10-12K

I couldn't find any 2.5" hithces in my town, so today I bought a reducer sleeve from U-haul and it fit my hich perfectly. $15.00 + tax.

I just made my reducer from 2.5" OD square stock with 1/4" walls. Had to use a grinder to grind down the seam on the inside to allow the 2" reciever to slide in, fits like a glove!

I have a Reese reducer for my Reese Tital class V 2.5" hitch, so I can use regular 2" hitches. Reese also makes regular slide in ball mounts in the 2.5" size, not just the weight distributing type, so a reducer is not needed. These have an added benefit because your friends can't "borrow" your hitches as they won't fit a regular receiver.

chevy has the same exact 2.5" receiver. there are a million reducers out there. very simple. and as stated, most locking pins are too short. the standard ones with the hair pin fit fine.

I purchased a reducer from my RV dealership and tried to put it in. It didn't just slide in so I banged on it for while. Got it 3/4 in and it wouldn't go any more. Went back to the RV dearlership and they managed to get it out again with very much effort.
Went to the Ford dealership to order theres and paid twice as much. Should be in early next week.

Anyone else disappointed?

Got a brand new 2011 F-350 beautiful truck, couple problems. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Problem 1:It has the 2.5" receiver. The dealership did not give me a reducer sleeve so I can’t pull with it. I have called about 10 auto parts stores and various truck dealers and nobody has one in stock.<o></o>
Problem 2: It came with this built in gooseneck rail system. After hearing the first to market and partnership hype with the hitch company I can say I am really disappointed that it is an incomplete unit.
<o></o>
Anyone else having these problems? Are you disappointed or upset like me?
<o></o>
Kind of seems that it is getting harder to get what you want in the vehicle easily.
I got to take out the unusable rails, so I can put a B&W in it, why Ford choose Cequent is beyond me. They must not pay too much attention to what the consumer actually wants. Now I have to go find a reducer sleeve or a 2.5” receiver which are not readily available in rural communities.

reducer.. get some 2.5in square tubing, 1/4 in wall.. need 6 inches.. drill two holes.. some rattle can black paint.. done..

the gooseneck ball should have been an order option.. (just like the 5th wheel deck) but the dealer should be able to get one for you..

someone here the other day was looking for one.. found it at a dealer, and also etrailer.com had one..

I had to find an adapter for my 2.5in hitch as well.. 2008 F350. cost $10 bucks at one of the local rv trailer places..

I checked with e-trailer.com and they do not have the kit that goes with that rail system for the 2011 "Ford Factory" rails. I have called 20 or so other places that carry Cequent products and they all say that center part for the gooseneck is not available yet but they can get me a B&W.
With the sleeve I can not find any 2.5" tubing that doesn't require drilling out the seam so I can fit a hitch in it. It seems like a lot of extra work after spending that much money on a new truck. Is there a reason that they are putting 2.5" receivers on some trucks now?

turn the 2.5 tubing 90 degrees so that you are drilling out the non-seam side..

2.5in receivers been used for a long time,

all the vendors do it.. cause at 15000 and above things get nutty..

my 08 has a 2.5 in receiver

from the etrailer page, also 'reese elite series' is another set of words when looking for the parts.
