Do you have to jump it?

Could be a few things...

Starter going bad, gets hot and starts to fail.
Altenator or regulator is bad and drains the battery, making it hard to start.
Timing too far advanced.

More info needed but first thing comes to mind is a bad starter. When engine is hot than so is starter and if bad will drag and not start the engine. So does it spin good when hot and not start or not turn at all or what? If it spins good hot but don,t start does it have spark. Bad coil or mod? will work when cold but fail when hot.

I'd venture on the side of the starter going bad as well. Same scenario happened in my 77.

Heat soak, fuel boiling out the bowl and vapor lock.

Or, is the starter not wanting to turn?

Check your cables.

A previous owner had a put a 6 gauge (small) cable from the starter solenoid to the starter on my truck. I installed all new 2 gauge cables. My 390 had a 'hot' slow start issue too, until I did this swap.
