Yes, the front pulley needs to come off and you will need a puller to do it.

UPDATE.....I got the radiator out today, started on pulling heads,Is there a trick to getting the rear exaust manifold bolt out?? On the drivers side? All the others came out easy,a few turns with the ratchet then out with the fingers. Also, all the head bolts came out OK,The 2 in the very rear did not seem as tight as the others..Is this an indication of something? I got really POd at that last bolt so before I borrowed one of Joes hammers I decided to quit for today

I'd put anti-seize on everything you can when re-assembling. It has saved me huge headaches lots of times!

get a couple extentions and get to it from the fender well behind that splash guard. Makes it a ton easier

I looked at mine, and i can't even get my finger on the bolt... if you're using a cherry picker, i thought i'd read about someone pulling the heads with manifolds attached...

I need new valve cover gaskets...

Rick you also have to pull the first oil pan bolt on each side of the crankshaft when you pull the front cover.

Oil from the CDR has a way of going mostly to the #7 and #8 cylinders.
So the extra BTU's from the oil burning along with the fuel, make the cylinder pressures highest in the rear cylinders of each head.

That over time stretches the rear head bolts, and will eventually cause head gasket failure.

When they stretch, they appear to be looser when you pull them out.

Thanks Dave, that makes sense to me,Is there a problem reusing the head bolts when I go back together? Im thinking about less $$ but I want it to be right.
