So the PO backed into something and pretty much made the 7 pin connector and the holding bracket useless. I'm now looking for a replacement for the setup but can't find the right setup that connects to the wire harness.
everything I've seen is either the round harness or just the other end. I can cut and splice for the new trailer side but don't really want to if I don't have too. BTW the other end is the round 7 pin and has the 4pin hanging off of it.
That makes two of us lol. All of the kit's I've seen are pretty much the round plugs on both ends but this isn't like that. I know I can get just the socket and to cut the old one and splice the new one on, but rather not if I don't have too.

Think all you really need is the plug end piece that plugs onto the harness http://www.etrailer.com/p-PK11893.html I think etrailer has that also,a phone call would probly gitt'r done 800-298-8924
Look closely at the back of your existing trailer recepticle. If it is like the '01, it will have a round connector that plugs into the trailer recepticle. That round connector fits the aftermarket trailer pigtails.
If your system works like this, you can have the afermarket recepticle plugged into the Ford harness, and the only difference will be that the whole harness will be longer than stock.
I too need an new 7 pin bumper receptical. I know there are a multitude of choices out there. The one I plan on installing is the dual 7/4 pin unit with 2 flip up covers. I saw several on Ebay and on other trailer accessory sites. You'll probably come out ahead if you just splice a new 7 pin receptical rather than paying $150 for a complete harness from Ford. The connector kit shouldn't cost more that $40 plus your time to install it
My trailer connector was all messed up when I bought my truck (2000 F250) several years ago. At that time, the 7-pin RV trailer harness was Ford p/n YC3Z13A576CA and the dealer list was $152.43. That's rediculous considering it is just a 7-pin trailer connector, some wire, and a connector to the truck harness. I tried the trademotion.com website and they had a better price of $107.74. Still not good enough.
If you look at the back of the connector you'll see the supplier is Pollak. I called the Pollak aftermarket sales group and after a few rounds of sharing pictures I found out that they make the entire harness and mounting bracket, less the connector to the Ford truck harness, under p/n 11-898. I purchased it for $34.00 from Peru Auto Electric in Illinois at 815-223-0888. A 5th wheel harness is also available under p/n 11-932 and you will also need an extra 11-893 socket.
I took the Ford harness connector down to the electronics lab where I work and they thought it was a Sure Seal connector specific to Ford. No hope of purchasing that outside of a dealership. But the Sure Seal connector isn't very good so no harm done. I just clipped the factory harness and put in Deutsch connectors. So for roughly $40 I have a better than factory 7-pin trailer harness.
I've been dealing with trailers a lot and there is nothing more annoying than cheap new connector that is not working.
I have couple of adapters that never worked right from the day 1.
Buy quality receptacle and just switch one wire at the time.
I was looking at the connectors at wally world and I can get the new end for something like $25. I don't have a problem splicing wires together, just rather not. The one plug had the screw wire clamp connectors on it so that would probably be what I would be leaning too.
The only problem I have with the aftermarket receptacle plugged into the Ford harness is the round end of the ford harness is now more oval so I would be worried about fitment issues.
much better. I have the 7/4 plug combo. comes with new brkt both plugs and the loom, plug and play.... hooked up the trailer and me and the kid took out the quads yesterday..
