Well, the sunroof has begun leaking (and it's raining like a cow "going" on a flat rock here in Houston). Drips around the A pillar so it's probably the front drain. The R&R for the corresponding TSB indicated the headliner needs to come down to get to the drain tube (along with the kick panel, e-brake...)
Questions about the headliner. Does it need to come completely out? How does it come off?
With the roof open you can see the drain hole - maybe you could get lucky and find some crud right on the surface? I have been successful with that once. No idea on the headliner, I haven't had to do it.
An update on my problem. I can push a length of weed cutter line through both front drains. I run into an obstruction in both at about the same distance in. Feels like something solid (not like junk plugging the tube). One of them drains like a drain and the other doesn't. Water poured into the pass side is coming out someplace around the kick pannel but I can't see where, it's obscured by the fender as it wraps under the body. Anyone with an idea where the drain exits?
OK, I think I can tell the end of the story. The drain was indeed blocked with gunk. Had to remove the kick panel. Remove a plastic "finger bracket" and a rectangular baffle plug that was behind. The last 6 inches or so is accessable through the resulting hole. Pulled the end of the tube up from wherever it ends and low and behold. Fulla carp.
Checked with a glass of water and it now drains like it should. Found a description here: JustAnswer Corp.
on replacing the tube. I didn't have to disconnect any of the electrical connectors or remove the e-brake like the article mentions.
