Soooo.....

Its 3am, and obviously I can't sleep, figured i'd check up on FTE and see what you kids have been up to.

But i'm curious, what do you guys use to hold your truck's up while doing axle swaps and such? I was thinking of buying some kind of lift for the shop, right now my current method is a forklift, 6 ton jack stands and big wood blocks. (As a platform for the jackstands..)

Anyone have something better?

We use an 11,000 lb lift and I have to agree with Newcomer, its the only way to go. It even holds the F250 with no problem. Just wish we would have got the lift before we put up the overhang on the side of the shop.

The jack stands I have fit perfectly into the wheel ramps I have as well, so I just put them on top of those ramps and go from there.

Just toss a stack of cinder blocks under each corner, like they do under them mobile mansions........ LOL.

Yes, that was sarcasm. I know it's not safe to attempt putting all 4 corners of a vehicle on cinder blocks.

Easy I use what I have! I jack the rear diff from the center of diff nice and high with the jack facing towards front and handle angled out to the side then take off my 44 tires off and lay them on there side stacked ontop each other under rear bumper frame area. I place two 3' pieces of wood 4x4's onto the top tire on both sides of the wheel then just lower it down. Just make sure your tires hold air well and they have good pressure. I've had my truck sitting like this for weeks with no issues and its very stable with no worries to work under it.

I'd love to have a lift in my shop. I was going to get one awhile back but the guy decided he wanted to keep it? Somebody my dad knows might upgrade his so I was thinking of buying his old one.

this only works without a bed, but it worked great for me!!! big jackstands welded to old truck rims are good for lifted rigs....

If it's anything bigger than my truck I usually borrow my dad's excavator. It comes in handy once in awhile.
