same thing happened to my buddies truck, but you can't prove it was a drunk. it might have been a dumb kid, or some one with out insurance, unless you caught the guy. but like i said i don't drink and drive anymore.
i did have somewhat of a hit and run while street racing a car once back in h/s. i had some 36's on skinny rims in front, and 38's on wide rims out back just for chit's and giggles for a week. we were racing down the main drag in town, which is a pretty well packed street with lots of parked cars. well i ended up leaving big black tire circles down the whole side of a new white monte carlo because the rear tire caught it. needless to say, i was actually sober and got scared and hauled *** out of town. ah, wreckless youth
Another beef I have is irresponsibility. If you hit someone's car, accept the responsibility and pay for the repair. Heck, if you have even just the basic liability insurance that is required by most states, that should cover the cost of repairs to whatever you hit. If you don't have insurance, you shouldn't be driving, period.
Anyone that drives while drinking should know better. However, I will say this much, most people tend to be far more careful after having a couple drinks than they normally would. Driving isn't something that should be mixing with texting, reading email/surfing the web, eating, ECT. Devote 100% of your attention to the road. If that's not possible, walk. At least that way you're not hurling a 3-7K missle down the road, blindly........
well we sorta caught the"guy" it was a dumb drunk kid. they left a note on the windshield, and left the car too, lol.
only proof of her being drunk was that she showed up where we work before we got there, and the night guy told us she was there.
no matter, the cops aint doin nothing about her being drunk, or leaving the scene, because she left her phone number. that's all she left though.
well, and this.....
as for insurance covering the damage....no dadgummed way am i letting them communist government run bastids get their hands on my truck!!! it would be written off "parts only" due to the age alone. they do everything they can to get "old" cars and trucks off the road, safe or not. so we will eat the damage ourselves and do the repairs out of pocket. made a deal on a parts truck by 9 am the next day anyways. lol
even the driver of the rollback that came to get her car the next day was drooling on the truck. he figured they would write it off too. even though it was just a fender bender.
You know you can get $ from them and still keep the ****ing pickup right? I got in a accident(guy pulled out in front on me) with my old 73 Imperial, guys insurance gave me $500 and I kept the car. A lot of times the "buy back" price is under $100 on them old rigs.
Just be happy you didn't have to get it towed. :P
I've seen some jacked up crap with wrecks, people giving their vehicles to the tow company to cover the tow bill. That's stupid as hell.
Actually reminds me of something, some guy I knew wired up his jeep really really really bad. Fuses blew, so he put bigger ones in, ect.. well he burned up the jeep. Basically just the wiring, top, seats and such burned up. The tub, tires, motor was fine. Well tow company took it to pay the bill. I just saw the guy driving it. It has $80 worth of bed liner, some new wiring. But it had quite a bit worth of parts. It's just stupid how things work out.
8k Warn winch, 35" tires, lift, bushwacker "extend-a-fender", off-road lights. And a lot more.. just given away to cover a ****in' 5 mile tow.
I have never called a tow truck to get my vehicles towed after a accident. Hell my last one was a lowered topaz that jumped a curb after ripping the front tire/bumper off a grandprix. Both front tires where pushed back into the back of the fenderwells, and flat. I called my buddy to go get my car trailer, and I drove the car out of the way, and onto the trailer. got $1600 from other guys insurance company, and kept the car. Lol.
i've never been in a real accident, but back when i first got my f350, a buddy bought a 94 f350 diesel that was the exact same truck just stock. he ended up getting sideswipped right in the front passenger side. i wish i would have had a trailer, because it got totaled out d60 and all just for some sheetmetal, frame, and tire damage. the frame was fixable too, but they saw the truck as a complete loss. i hate insurance companies

well here in manitoba, they write these old trucks off as irrepairable, meaning you cannot get it registered again anywhere. sure you can buy it back, but ya cant insure it. it's the commie insurance company of manitoba government. called mpi. manitoba public insurance.
just one of many reasons to hate on canada.
yeah prozon, no tow job here, we have a corner lot so it was right beside the house. wouldn't mind an $80 jeep lol. would fit nicely in the yard with the others.
and that dan, what happened to yer buddy is why mine is not getting an "estimate" from the commies.
