I need a liitle help on hooking up my horn for my '60. My steering box has a long green wire hanging out of it, I assume that's for the horn. The question is: is it for hooking it to a 12V source or to the horn relay. My trucks horn was shot and nothing was hooked up when I got it.
The horn wire from the column should go to the horn relay.
It grounds the relay to energize it.
Wire from horn and 12V source are the other relay wires.
Yes the wire dangling from the steering box is from the horn button.
You need to mount a 12 volt horn relay on your firewall (if there's not one there already - if there is replace it) and hook it up like this (looking up at it from the bottom):
The term "Hot Bus" is a 12 volt power source. Either a fuse box that is hot all the time (not turned off withthe ignition switch) or the starter solenoid post that connects to your positive battery cable.
