Leaf Spring removal

Did quite a bit of searching on here but couldn't find any reference to the procedures for removing leaf springs from a F100. I am still waiting on my shop manuals to arrive, but in the mean time I thought I'd check here for the answer.

I have got the axle removed as well as all but the main leaf spring on each side. I pulled the lock pins for each side spring hangers and removed the grease fittings from the pins.

What is the best way to get the shackle pins out? I gave the thing a good shot of Mouse Milk to help free it up.

I doused mine with dot3 brake fluid(it's the same as pb blaster without the can), let it sit for about four days and out they came. I added a little fluid each night. It take a bit of hammering but really wasn't that bad.

If I'm not mistaken they drive out inside the frame, there is a hole for them to pass through.

yea did some digging and cleaning and found the holes in the frame. Was able to drive the pins out using a flat set on my rivet gun, and a section of round bar.

Tried the same thing on the fwd pins of the rear springs, but those don't want to budge...going to have to let them soak for a while.

At least none of the leaves are broken so a little cleaning and painting is all they need.

friend, every other spring according to mid fifty...that should bring you down 1 3/4 inch in ride heigth...do not, remove the "main spring" that's the thikest...but go on midfifty.com to get the particulars...you my have some bump-n-steer after the removal...

Not trying to remove leafs to lower the truck...trying to remove them all to replace all the worn bushings, pins and to clean them up.

I'm keeping this as stock as I can.

While you have the springs apart and clean, go to a spring shop and buy some Durlin strips of the appropriate width (Ithink it is 1 3/4" wide for the fronts and 2" for the rears.and put these strips between each leaf when you assemble them. They will work so much better, almost like coil springs.

I'm getting ready to replace my rear spring bushings as well. Can someone list the step-by-step procedures for doing it? Pictures would be a great help.

Hopefully I don't have to remove the rear drive shaft and/or axle. I was hoping to put the rear end on jack stands and support the differential with a floor jack.

It's a 51 F1

Thanks
