truck Buddies information

I jacked the old 52 F1 pickup up today on the axle and went to the tires there was back and forth play up and down and also side ways. What do I need to replace to correct this play? King Pins, Tie rods ends and what else should I replace.

Thanks,
Larry

Bad king pins will cause slop from the top to the bottom and bad tie rod ends will cause slop from side to side. However, loose wheel bearings will cause both problems. Check your wheel bearing adjustment before you do anything else.

Also, I don't know if it was a word slip but don't jack the truck up from under the axel unless you are directly under the springs - even better to jack from under the frame. The axels will bend changing you camber angles or ruining the axel.

Here's the htread we had while I was going through this same thing - lots of good discussion:

Also while checking the front end, check the side play in the spring shackles. This will cause unstablity too.
