Take the nut off and beat them through. Be careful not the bugger up the threads.
I used an air chisel with a dulled round point to pop mine out. I got them started moving by beating with a big hammer while the nut was still threaded on a bit and then switched to the air chisel.
If they haven't been greased in a while they will be stubborn.
I greased mine before hand. Also PB Blast before. I am in the process of removing the leafs to lower my 53 and painting the frame so I feel your pain.
Loosen the nut for the lock pin then hit on the nut to push the pin some then take the nut off and push it through. I did not have air available so I used a long punch (cheap hf 1/4 impact extension ha ha) and a 3lb sledge to hit the pins from the hole on the inside of the frame til they went through. On the rear springs the front hanger there was not enough clearance for the pin as the fender was in the way. I was flipping the hanger anyways so I just ground the rivets down and dropped the hanger. Good luck its a pain of a job.
Rockauto.com has the lock pins for cheap in case you booger up yours.
Raybestos part number SPR 5764040 were the ones to fit my 1951. They are 2.2 inches long. Hope this helps.
Last weekend I whaled the crap out of my rear suspension. Used torches, sledgehammers, hammer drills, Aerokroil, ATF fluid, impact wrenches and lots of swearing to get my springs off.
If you get new shackle pins (if your removing your leafs you should do) they come with the new pins & nuts. I got mine through dennis carpenter and like the quality.
