Wrangler tires question
From what Ive seen, there seems to be two types of Goodyear Wranglers on 09+ F150s, both on the 18in rim. It seems to me that the FX4 and the STX 4X4 Decor pkg get the same tire, while certain trims of the 4X4 XLT's get a more agressive treaded Wrangler tire. I checked the window stickers and there isnt anything noted as an option. Im just kind of miffed that my "off-road" truck gets more lame of a treaded tire then the XLT. Anyone else notice this, or have the Wranglers on thier FX4,STX, or XLT?

Its funny because when I bought my XLT both had similar options except the SCAB had the chrome package with 18" Goodyear Wranglers, and the SCREW that I bought had the 17" Michelins LTX A/T's. I think the Michelins are a better tire, only because I had Goodyear Wranglers on my Explorer and they didn't wear well.

The standard 18" tire that Ford is using on the 09/10 is the Wrangler S-RA. To get the Wrangler ATS, you must order the LT tire option.

Both list the tires as All-Terrain. I'm sure if you look closer at trucks in your area, you'll see the same thing.

Wrangler Silent Armours
Too bad Ford wouldnt offer these tires as options........Wrangler Silent Armours are also a rated snow and cold weather tire too. The have always been in the top of the tire rankings at tirerack.com

Thank you sir! Interesting. Ive never noticed that before. I had just seen that some XLT 4X4s had Goodyear Wranglers that had a more aggresive tread then the Goodtear Wranglers on my FX4. You'd think the more agressive tread would be standard on the FX4

Ok I stopped by the dealer on the way to the gym tonight and saw the Wranglers with the more aggressive tread I was talking about. The delaer had them on most of the XLT 4X4s and the FX4s. Very frustrating because I wish I had got that time on mine but didnt know it was an option. I wouldve paid the difference at the time. Grrrr....
It looks like it'd be a real good tire too. I think thats the same tire Ford was putting on most of the 4X4 Superduitys.

FWIW my XLT came with the junk Goodyear GS-A's. I have the chrome pkg and 18" wheels, maybe that makes a difference? All the trucks (where I bought mine) with the 17" wheels had the Michelin ltx's on them. Silver05fx4- what is the sizing on your 33's? I got a price for BFG AT's yest at my favorite local tire shop for 275/70-18 which is a 33.2" tall tire, for $210 M&B ea. Not a bad price, I just don't know if it will fill up the wheelwell enough for my liking with a 2" LK. Is yours leveled?
EDIT: Right now I'm liking the Terra Grappler in a 295/70-18, its like a 34ish x 11.5 I think. We'll see, I don't know how well they war and I drive around 4-500 mi. per wk.
