I have what i know to be a 1977 f150 400 auto that i put a 79 or 78 grill and a rad support im not sure what it came off of . Anyways i went to put my 77 radiator in and the mount brackets that should be on the radiatior support arent there??? any ideas they are on the 77 rad support but that one is rotted on the mount.Does anybody know what the deal is short of cutting the brackets off of the old one and welding them on the 78/79?.thanks
yea i did some research in the lmc catalog that seems to be the case. I found out you can use the 78/79 grill with a 77 rad support by bolting the 78 headlight buckets on the top and drilling out for the bottom and it will fit. Guess i will have to fix the rotted mount cause radiators arent cheap nor is it bad. So i guess i have an 78/79 radiator support in mint condition just painted gloss black if anyone is interested.
i ended up cutting the brackets off the radiator and welding them on the other side and drill the slots a little wider and it fit right in about 2 hours. Not bad and only cost $2.00 ford bolts
