Apparently, the New York City Council is considering a new law that would ban the sale of any toy gun that is shaped like the real thing. The local Libertarians, who generally know a silly law when they see one, have announced an appropriately silly response -- their new "guns for tots" program. They will be distributing free toy guns to public schoolchildren.
Its people like those local libertarians that keep the politicians and tree huggers in check. I dont think that was possibly the best way to go about it, but I understand and agree with their motives.
Personally, I never had any toy guns and I haven't bought any for my kids. It's much better to hand them the real thing, give them lessons in shooting and RESPECT and not be worried that they will want to play with it. I think most parents don't even think about what they are indirectly teaching their kids about guns when they hand them toys.
as for what V10man posted- im not bashing what you said or attacking you. but i dont htink kids should FEAR guns ( most dont after owning capguns ) anyways- what i wanted to say was-
its only taken me the 20 years of my life to realize;
there is no right answer to any problem.
ok, give the guns or take them away... you take them away, and before long the united states becomes a sissy little dependent country caus eno one can fire a rifle to defend it, or you GVE kids the toy guns and they take the real ones to school. theres no right answer
If I hadn't had toy guns when I was a kid, I couldn't have blasted the evil space aliens, the Russians, and my older brother. Talk about a scary childhood! I depended upon my G.I.Joe Action Blaster for security in an insecure world.
As far as gun education goes, I was taught how to clean a gun long before I ever shot one. I was made to respect them as an adult item, and when I first shot my old man's .357 at age 7 (because I begged him to let me), I understood what that power meant. He loaded one shell in the revolver, and let me blast it off. It was the most painful, scary, intense, and thrilling things I had ever done, and when I got up off my butt, I handed my dad the gun and didn't ask to shoot it again for several years. I think all kids should be taught to respect guns and their power, and the only way to do that is to allow them to shoot them when they are old enough to do it safely.
Unless you want TV to teach them about guns. The people on TV can accurately shoot 2 large caliber pistols at once, and when they kill somebody, it doesn't affect them or their lives; there aren't consequences for killing people on TV. The cops don't even get put on paid leave pending investigation. That's a great message! But it's the TOY GUNS' fault, right?

We need to form up a "SILLY PARTY" to lampoon all of this BS...
"And next on the agenda - we have a motion to ban the sale of metal staples, so as to avoid the risk of office persons shooting at one another with them, thereby causing harm..."
"Are we AGREED?"
"MOTION CARRIED!!!"
"Henceforth, it shall be illegal within our domains to offer for sale, posit the creation of, or wish for any variation of any "STAPLE" (or "Paper Affixing Device", henceforth to be known as a P.A.D.) which is made of any substance other than harmless, biodegradable RUBBER...."
Well spoken Big Daddy...I too taught my kids in a similiar manner, they are "tools" like any other, personally, the first time I used a circlular saw and a chainsaw taught me all the respect I needed when dealing with "tools"...
just imagine if the middle eastern countries were as yuppie acting as alot of americans are. yeah, i can just see it now;
"Pakistan bans ownership of rocks."
"Any persons who own property with rocks on it after June 8th will be inprisioned"
"The ownership of rocks has been abused, and now its time to take away those privillages"
on the pakistan news channel 1364 b.c.; this witness tells her side of the story about the rock throwing incident;
"People were just going crazy, i got hit by a stray rock thrown by a 4 year old"
sorry i think its the beer typing ill turn off my computer now.
I think we need to put a stop to this Guns for Tots thing right away. I live in Georgia and with our liberal gun laws we are already being blamed for all the illegal real guns in New York. We have no laws at all concerning toy guns. The senator (Hillary) will surely blame Georgia for all the tots going wild with thier toy guns. Who knows, they may get toy bullets and clean up New York city. I think we should appoint Sara Brady to head a commision on guns for tots to put a nation wide ban on them. We could call it Brady in waiting.
My mother, in Massachusetts of all states, use to carry her .22 to school for shooting practice. Like thousands of other God fearing kids across the nation. Noone got shot at the 4H clubs.
The only things that have really changed is we removed God from schools and replaced him with violent laden TV with no values where kids can see hundreds of people killed an hour.
Maine, were almost every house has a shotgun and dogs wear orange vests even in their backyards during hunting season, is the safest place to send your children to school. Go figure it out.
