Gun control

I think we took the guy who was too heavy to be executed as far as it would go,so lets open up the hornet's nest that gun control issues do! I own guns,i enjoy shooting targets,i live in a nice area so im not overly concerned with protecting myself,i dont need guns, but our Constitution guarantees me the right to own them! WE do have prohibitions from firearms ownership, convicted felons, people adjudicated as mentally ill, those who have been discharged dishonorably from our armed services, those convicted of domestic violence, etc. These all seem like sensible rules, and i believe we are all the better because of these restrictions. Since the Constitution affirms our right to own firearms, how do states, cities, and various municipalities enact there own little arbitrary laws further restricting gun ownership? I was always of the impression that state and local laws were able to grant more rights than what the Constitution guaranteed, but that they were not able to infringe upon what the federal law allowed/guaranteed. We now have far more laws restricting gun owners than ever before, and many locales are seeing there homicide rates increase almost yearly. I understand that Australia has had there violent crime rate increase since there new, more restrictive laws dealing with guns took effect. Everytime here in the US that we draft new anti-gun legislation, the only ones affected are the lawful gun owners, none of these laws bother the serious criminals, since by there very classification as criminals, there are unable to legally own a gun, anyway. I am not in favor of what the "gun-grabbers" like Handgun Control, inc are attempting to do,i dont favor the so called gun control movement, and i dont think that the majority of our citizenry do either! If the majority DO want to change the way that we can own guns, there is only one way it can be done, and that is by either amending or repealing the 2nd Amendment, the individual states and cities dont have this right, and its truly sad that groups who would fight any barrier to our 1st Amendment rights are strangely silent when it comes to the Amendment that someone felt was so crucial, that it was the 2nd one drafted.

I think you've pretty well covered it. Should people who like to start arguements have guns?

Ummm.- May want to become Supporter, and go to the CLUB with that one, before it gets tossed......the politcal, personal-type threads seem to go away before it goes very far. I've read most of your posts regarding this issue, and I, for one, would welcome you in the CLUB. It's cheap, and I'm sure you would have fun there.

Pete (CCL and gun owner)

Step up!!

I see the Supporter route in my very near future, but im trying to talk laws rather than politics,no Asses and Elephants,or suggesting voting strategies,so im hoping that the powers that be will let er ride,we will see...... these controversial issues always stir up some interesting responses, dont they!

Well, utfball, your not going to be making friends with the Prius crowd, but considering your vehicle choices, ill bet not many Prius owners send you Christmas cards anyway..... Im assuming you will let the young lady start off with a slightly lighter caliber?

Bob, I really enjoy reading what you have to say, and debating with you!

I have a request though, instead of going one large paragraph, split it up a little, it makes things just a little easier on the eyes, when there is a break
(we have way different gun control laws up here then you guys do down there but I enjoy reading the differences and adding where i can)

It sucks when gun control laws are implemented for everyone, and it only seems to affect the law abiders. How does one effectively stop the bad guys from using the guns?

Canadian gov. just restricts everything lol. Does it work, kinda, sorta, maybe, definatly not always.

Gun control means you hit your target when you fire your gun.Thats the only rule a legal gun owner needs.

Im already a crappy typist, now ive gotta try to make neat paragraphs?

Yeah,it sucks when the law-abiding types follow the law because they feel its right, while the criminals,by there very nature as criminals do what they choose to......

I say the most effective way to stop the bad guys from using the guns is for the good guys to use them first, with better aim.......

Me. I have a few guns that I use for hunting. I figure that if the criminals can have guns then so can I.

I found this pretty funny firearms shop commercial if you want to check it out:

gun control is using both hands... and hitting what you aim at...
