have you guys seen the 514 crate engine that has 600hp in jegs? well any how i was jsut wondering how much you could expect with fuel milage with that engine?
If you have to ask you can't afford one. I'd expect about 4 MPG or less running on Cam 2 or maybe 100 octane Avgas or it's equivalent. I wouldn't even want to try pump gas in that manster unless you live in one of the few places that can get Sunoco 100.

I couldn't agree more. You can stick a 600HP 460 on the street and get decent gas mileage but it involves nitrous oxide or a turbo. That thing is all motor and a lot of it. Just keeping it cool at the lights is going to make you miserable. Its made to run good wide open at high rpms and that's about it. Not much for creeping through town.

Actually it only has 9.8:1 compression. It should run very well on 91 octane. Bigger the cam the less octane you need. It still is advertised as a race motor and rightfully so. Streetability isn't impossible, just completely impractical.
