I thought that I saw a carrying case for receiver hitch ball mounts a couple of years ago but I am unable to find anything on i-net. I believe it was a hard plastic case with a built-in handle and foam rubber on the inside. You can put your ball mount and pin in the case to store inside the vehicle without getting the interior dirty. Does anyone here know of such a product or have suggestions on how to make my own?
I think I saw something at Menards that would work. I think it was a "Tool Shop" brand toolbox/ power tool case. It was an aluminum looking briefcase type thing. Inside it was full of foam, top and bottom. You just cut out the correct shape in the foam to make it fit and it won't rattle around.
I haven't seen them lately but Home Depot use to have cases similar to what "Charlez" is describing. They had the aluminum finish outside with grey egg crate foan inside. I think they went for around 20 bucks.
"Charlez" nice truck. I have a 92 similar to that. Two tone light blue over dark blue. It's mostly stock.
I plan on making one out of plywood. I made a case for my weight distribution bars last year and it works out great. Keeps all of the sand and crud out of the grease.
I realize this is an old post, but I came across something the other day I thought some people might be interested in. Northern Tools has a hitch bag for carrying your hitch and ball in, check it out at northerntools.com and it is under Item# 330475. I don't think it is a hard case though like discussed before, but it looks like it could be nice to have, and only $20. Just thought I'd let people know.
Why does eveyonr want to take the ballmount out of their hitch every time they use it, why not buy a locking pin and leave it in there, it has the add benefit of giving you an extented lower bumber if you ever get rear ended

Well, I take mine out for 2 reasons. One, it doesn't get salt sprayed and rusty. And the main reason is so I don't smack my shinns on it when I'm walking past it.
I take mine out because I can't close the garage door if it is in, even with the front bumper touching the front wall. Truck is too long, clearance too little.
1. It only takes smacking your shins on it once to take it out
2. I have a Ford Emblem receiver cover I put in when not using the hitch. I do have a locking pin I use for both so somebody doesn't decide to walk off with my stuff.
ON EDIT: This place is 5 miles from my house. I have bought trailers and accessories from them for years. They are good to deal with and have excellent customer service.
Try their other site for trailers. I just bought a 20 ft. Anderson equipment trailer from them.
