Every time I tear down something (especially if it has to do with the knuckle), I ALWAYS replace EVERY seal. The few extra dollars go a long way if the seal looks "good" but craps out or gets damaged during removal/re-install.
Help! Tore my hubs apart before reading thread. I know, stupid. Pryed selector **** off hub and broke the ears off. Ford says no parts available to replace parts I broke. Looks like I must buy new hubs. What are my options.

For the cost, Warn or Mile Marker manual hubs are the way to go - the only thing is, you need to get out and lock them when you want 4x4
I found this on eaby and contacted the seller. He has two and would sell them both for $350 including shipping. (The buy it now was $239 for one)
I know the warn or milemarkers are cheaper but reported to be heavy duty.
I wanted to retain the 4x4 auto/manual mode I have paid for in the truck. Dont know the seller but we did email a few times. Said they are complete hubs. I got one locally for $238
With the right part they go right on from the threads in here. some disconnect the vacuum line at the wheel, some at the solenoid.
Guy I spoke to here did not disconnect and had no problems. He had the Warn Supreme model. His only complaint was the finish was peeling (4 years old). It was the gold colored handle, looked like a clear coat was peeling off.
He also said the AUTO/Manual stock hubs locked up on the spot where his Warn took a few turns of the wheel once engaged manually. He said he preffered the stock set up for the winter. He did not need to keep them locked for the "just in case" he needed it. Just his opinion, I would just lock them once stuck or before a snow covered hill (which is everywhere in Pittsburgh).
Got the bill today. $465.oo $315 in parts and $150 labor. I feel I did extremely good.
A/C drain and recharge
Front axle fluid change
Transfer case change
Tranny flush
No charge
Front o rings (I paid for seals), 1 new hub and 4x4 soleniod were parts. Labor for front axle work only. This was same mechanic who said 9 hours book time to do the work. Buddy of father in law, now mine too.
