Factory CD changer error

I have a fully loaded magazine of CD's in my 2001 X. Just recently I am unable to play any of them or even eject them. I get a "CD ERROR" when I try to do something. Any ideas on what to look at?

Factory CD changer error

Sounds like a CD got hung up.

Well...you can always remove the changer and "go at it" from a different angle...Meaning:Take it apart on your kitchen table.

Factory CD changer error

Speaking of which, I currently have a singel disk CD player in my truck, and was thinking about "upgrading it" to the 6 disk CD changer. Then I heard about all the problems it had, such as having trouble playing the "home made CD's", skipping frequently, etc. All my disks are all burned via. my laptop, and they play great in the one I have now, but if they will cause trouble in the new one, I won't evean bother.

What do you think, and how much will a "take out the singel disk, and put the new 6 disk" in will cost me?

I don't know what's wrong with yours, but wanted to post a reminder that one of the BIG no - no's with the in-dash changers is not to use homemade cd's with the stick-on labels. I guess the clearances are that tight, or peeling could be a problems. Good luck.

My disks are homemade, but I don't put the stickers on them. They work very good in my single disk CD player I have now. I was just thinking of "up-grading" in the next few months.

Factory CD changer error

I play home made CDs with no problems in my 6 dsic changer as well. But you must not put labels on them! I did, it got stuck, and I had to perform surgery on the unit.

I've had the same thing a few times. It happens regardless the type of CD in the changer too. I've been able to "help" the CD out of the changer using another disc. You'll probably end up scratching both in the process so keep this in mind when you select which "helper" you're going to use. I had to slide the helper disc in the slot during the eject sequence because on my player, that's where the jamb occurs. I keep a hold of the helper disc and use it to try to pull the other out. Good luck, it's frustrating.

Okay, we have the same problem, so we took all the cds out and now the changer says that all slots are full and cd error intermittently...
What now???

Get a radio puller from your local parts store for about $7 and then pull it. take the front screws out and remove the face plate. Then you'll be able to see the CD's and carefully remove them..Then put it back together and also be very careful avbout turning it upside down or dropping it.. Very injurious to the health of the unit. This won't necessarily make it work properly, but at least you've got your CD's back and it will work ok sometimes..Just don't load it more than one at a time.....

We did that...still nothing. Now the unit will not even power up properly. I'm just going to get a new one with the aux plug in for my mp3 player! I've wanted to do that for a while now, and now I have a legitimate excuse.

Thanks for your help! Sure appreciate it!
