How do I retrieve a (stuck)CD?

Hi there,
I recently purchased a 2001 Ford F250. It has a factory 6-CD changer. when i inserted a CD, the digital screen said "CD Error". When i tried to eject the disc, it reads "No CD". Anyone have any ideas on how to get this CD out and/ or how to prevent this from happening agin? Also, is the CD player a lost cause and needs replacing? thanks.

Here is what I did. remove the radio. put it on a kitchen table on a towel. if you look, you can remove the entire face with a few screws on the sides. after that, remove the cd. put together, reinstall in truck and hope it resets. By the way, paper labels on cds are a huge no no, and ford even has it on the radio sticker which is removed when originally sold.

Extremely scratched cd's can also cause a problem. Those radios are pretty easy to get apart. As long as u have a little mechanical experience youll be fine. Small needle nose pliers are handy! Good luck

after mine was repaired for the third time. I retrieved my CD's with a BFH, and replaced the unit with an aftermarket CD player and never looked back.

Remove the radio and disconnect from power for a second or two, reconnect it and it should run like new.It should shuffle cd's as a self test.
Or disconnect the battery for a second,it will do the trick the same.

I always used to bang on the dash a few times. Worked every single time. Then I ditched the stock radio and never looked back.

I just slide my pocket knife under the cd (still in radio) and hit the eject button

What worked for me was to beat on the dash above the stereo while trying to eject the cd. It happens when the drive mechanism gets hung up and the jarring helps knock it loose.

Actually I like the BFH idea, but it tends to mess up the cd too.
Mine was stuck and all I did was turn the key off ( while parked ) and hit the eject button a couple of times. Sometimes it would eject then suck it back in but I learned to be quick about it and grabbed the cd before it went back in. But most of the time it would spit it out with no problems, it did the same thing with the casette player, and it worked too.

I thought I was the only one to find the solution to this intermittent problem was to beat on the dash. It has happend only twice in four years and both times all it took was one good bang on the dash

Yep, mechanical agitation is my favorite technique as well. Works real good with uppity computers as well. And a bigger hammer never can hurt either!

What is this archaic "CD" thing you are talking about. Was that something they had before satellite radio, ipods and MP3 players? =D

I guess I shouldn't say much I would be happy if my truck just had an FM/AM radio in it.

2 Things that Ford continues to screw up, The CD players and Seat belts.... I have to practically beg my seat to retract the seatbelt. find an 80's Chevy and seat belt will get sucked up like a noodle in a spaghetti eating contest.
