Question Rubber between front fender and cab

I am going to get the front clip on my truck today, and there is a rubber piece that goes along the back side of the fender that butts up against the cab. I pulled a bunch of staple looking things out of there, so I would guess that is how Ford kept the rubber piece in place back in 1950. I don't have anything that I could use to staple through the metal. Anyone have ideas on how to keep the rubber in place?

I thought about using a small screw and buying little rubber toppers to put over it, but I am afraid they would work themselves loose and leave the metal screw to rub against the cab.

Sorry I don't have any pictures to put on here. I loaned my camera out and got it back broken. Hope I was clear enough in my description. If not, I can try to explain better and take pictures on my phone, just not sure how good they'd turn out.

new rubber stripping is available from LMC there in KC as well as many other places. The new replacement is not stapled on.
Good luck

Just use some weather strip adhesive to hold it on.

I already have the seal, I just wasn't sure how I was going to put it on. I have made several trips out to LMC. I wish they were right down the road though. I have to drive about 40 minutes to get there. But I guess 40 minutes is better than 2-3 days if I had to order it in the mail.

So weather strip adhesive would work? Looks like I just might get the front put on tomorrow!!!

Yep!

I have a full front tilt and I have the seal glued to my fender lip. It works great.

3M Weatherstrip adhesive comes in several types, all are absolutely great products. If you follow the directions, you'll have no problems.

Man I wish I had a F100 supply house that close. Seems like I wait 3 to 5 days on everything I order. That's not counting if you have to have it shipped freight which is 10 times more in cost.

It's really surprising no one in Memphis sells old truck parts.
I am 140 miles from LMC and it is so much cheaper for me to drive up there than to have, like a hood or bed, truck shipped.

The guy who owed it passed away and a son took over. Went by there two or three times and it looks like its closed up.

Jack, I try not to complain because I know it could be a lot further away. I wish there was a JEGS right next to them. That would be perfect. I've spent a lot of money for my JEGS orders. I just wish I could think of everything and make only one trip every couple months. But most of the time, I don't realize it until I'm in the middle of things, so I have to stop what I'm doing to drive out to LMC to buy parts.

I'm pretty spoiled. C&G Ford Parts is about 3 miles up the road in Escondido.

They have been VERY helpful!
