transfer case swap

I have a 93 7.3 idi diesel F350 that has a transfer case that is going bad-FWD output shaft has play on all axis. I also have a 89 460 F250, both have BW 1356 transfer cases, the 250 has a 5 speed ZF and the diesel is auto-E40D I believe. Should this be a straight swap? From all appearances(still in trucks) they look the same. Anyone know this stuff?

Most transfer cases used by Ford will bolt up to most transmissions used by Ford so my guess is that it should not be a problem.
