transfer swap
does anyone know if a transfer case from a 1985 f250 6.9 diesel 4x4 manual 4 speed will bolt up to 1989 f250 4x4 7.3 diesel 5 speed? also will the starter work too? I just bought a 1989 f250 4x4 without a transfer case or starter but I have a parts truck that is a 1985 f250.

The transfer case will bolt to the trans. There could be different shifter set ups, and there are slip yoke and fixed outputs. Both should be slip joint.
Look up the starter for both on autozone.com or something, see if they are the same part nos

both will bolt on. the 85 SHOULD have a gear reduction starter in it, but someone may have put a direct drive in it. either way it will work just not a good if it is direct drive.
as said, the t-case should work with no problems, just check to see if it is a slip yoke or flange yoke.
