From what I have been reading a large number of these Expeditions pull to the right. We need to unite and make Ford fix the problem. My 99 has pulled to the right since I bought it new.
Check with dealer about correct alignment specs. I heard early models (yours is not, but might have same problem) had bad specs published. Make sure it's aligned properly. There is a slight chance of a tire problem but I've had neither problem with my '97 Exped.
My 98 EB Expy pulls to the right as well. I took it to a mechanic to have it corrected. Everything was within tolerance however the right side was slightly lower which could account for it pulling to the right. The mechanic said he could put a "washer kit" on the right side which "might" correct the problem which would cost about $100.00. The mechanic also mentioned the obvious that most roads are constructed with the centerline being the high point of the road and then slope to the right which could feel like your vehicle is pulling to the right. There was no noticeable wear on my tires, so I decided to forgo the washer kit. Hope this helps.
Regarding the pull-to-the-right problem of the crown on the roads, I vaguely remember that when I was in high school and college about 30 years ago, I worked in a garage for a while. The owner mentioned an alignment "trick" that reduced the pull to the right caused by the crown in the road. He took the vehicle specs and made his own adjustment to the specs. Unfortunately I do not know how to contact this guy anymore, nor do I remember the details, but I remember that he had an alignment machine that looked antique back then. Whatever he did certainly worked because I remember that everytime my family or I needed tires for our cars we bought the tires from him and he did the alignment. The cars always handled extremely well and the alignments were good for at least the life of the tires and more. I have not been able to find a shop since then whose alignment is as good as his was.
