Have a '76 F150 4x4 with what I believe is a NP435 transmission. I would like to get the speedometer working and have no clue of the tooth count for the required gear (gear is missing). Any ideas on how to determine which gear I need?
I'm plan on driving the truck from AZ to Washington state here in a couple of weeks and don't want any speeding tickets.
The revs per mile usually is defaulted to 1000 referring to the odometer. Also, I think the Drive gear in the transmission is a 7 tooth, but correct me if I'm wrong. If its a 7 tooth Drive gear than based on the formula and the info given, you should need a 16 tooth driven gear.
