I was loading down my flatbed trailor over the weekend with 10,000 lbs of rock to do some landscaping with. Rolled across the scales with over 10 grand on it and drove it home. The truck drove like I had nothing behind it. When I got home, I was thinking to myself how am I going to get this load up my driveway. I have a steep drive way that is so steep the trailor wheels will completly lift off the ground when the back of the trailor drags the ground.
I decided to go through the yard, however I have a 8" inch curb to go over then straight up. I started over the curb at a angle creeping over it, when all of a sudden two tires on the trailor blew out. At this point the trailor was buried down in the ground with no way to back up into the street. By now all my neighbors are coming over telling me I will have to unload the rock into the street and get a Bobcat to get it up the driveway.
Now comes the cool part. I decided to put the truck in 4 low and see what this diesel is capable of doing. I held the brake down and waited for the turbo to spool up then dropped the hammer. The truck drug the trailor all the way up the yard and over the hill. My neighbors were blown away that this truck was able to pull the trailor up my hill.
I quess that's why they call these trucks...Suoerduties!!!!
Not surprised.....we have great trucks. Thanks for sharing and good luck fixing that part of the yard. That is the only bad thing about these trucks, they can sure dig some holes!
A video would have be nice to have. I though about that after I made it up the hill. The weekend project started off to be inexpensive, until I had to replace two rear tires on the left side of my double axle trailor. The tires only had around 2,000 mile on them. The ruts in the yard will recover with some added topsoil. The Nitto Terra Grapplers tires seem to be Great at cutting huge ruts.
Should have purchased the Hill hazard warranty on the tires!!!
you have to block curbs with wood when you have weight on the tires. next time you deside to ditch up your yard with the superduty plow, VIDEO CAM is a must...
Here is a 5th wheel that I moved for a lady a couple of weeks ago. Comes in at 11K, was a 1980, towed it about 200 miles to North of Beckley WV out in the middle of no where. I had to back in into their drive way, down hill, muddy and curves and not real great trailer brakes either. Had to use 4Lo to control that thing thru all the mud.
Blocking the curb would have been a Great idea...if I had thought of it before I blew the tires out. I've gone over curbs before without the ridiculas weight I had on the trailor with no problems.
