my engine is fine until i drive it for a couple of miles. then if you come to a stop light the rpms jump up and down from 300 to 1200 rpms. it was dying til i changed the TPC ( throttle position censor). now it isnt dying but its still jumping up and down on the rpms for a few minutes while idling then it levels out again. this is a 4.6 engine not a 5.4.
MAF cleaner works too. And you can clean the mass airflow sensor and intake air temp sensor with it as well
From an experience with my POS dodge pickup, you might need to take the IAC out and soak it to fix the problem. (flip it upside down and basically fill it with cleaner.) They can get really gummed up
be sure to check the spark plug boots down in the well, they could collect moisture. I recently ran across this after I flushed my coolant and had some water spill. I pulled the COPs and found come moisture on the boots, and blew out the wells with some compressed air.
Thanks to you all the truck is running fine in park and neutral. but the rpms still jump in drive and reverse occasionally. but that i can deal with it only jumps about 400 rpms instead of 1000 rpms.
