When i start up my 4.9, especially lately, I will start it up and it will die, even if i tap the gas a little bit. then i'll start it again, and it revs up to about 1500 RPM's, dies down to about 400 Rpms, kicks up to about 1300 Rpms, dies down to 400 rpms, goes back up to 1300, so on and so on, then i get ticked, rev it up to about 3500 rpms for about 5 seconds, and rev it around until it idles at a constant Rpm. Why is this idle so screwed. it idles fine when its warm at about 6 or 7 rpms.
its a 88 4.9, i might have been blowing it out of proportion a little bit, its more like 400 RPM to 1100 RPMs, but still its annoying as hell. it acts like its gonna die then it kicks the rpms up to a little over a grand over and over for a while. 5_labsownus hows that flowmaster sound on the 4.9?
i have the same prob. and ive heard rumors that it may be the O2 Sensors and somebody posted on mine telling me to check the fuel filter...im going to try that and ill let you know how it works out....its worth a try cause it bugs the hell outa me
