bought a set of axles from a michigain 125a front end loader want to put under my 77 f250 have any of you ever used these axles or built a truck on loader axles do i have to mess with the gears the loader stearing was rear so i have to put the rear axle in the front do i have to swap the gears around from rear to front gears
trucks eats 2.5 ton rocks all the time and 60s are weak for what iam building we got alot of mud time in this truck is going to be all out built hopeing for 600hp on the motor
I only know of one fella who has used loader axles successfully. Look up Evolution Forums The guys name is Clayton Kratz and he used axles out of an extending boom fork lift (If I remember correctly)
i tried finding some info on these loaders and their parts, and came up with a few pics, and that was it. i would assume you would be coming out ahead of the game if you went with rocks and got the 2'' 47 spline shafts and either the billet locker or spool from ouverson engineering.
Please correct me if Im wrong but this Michigan 125a appears to have planetaries. I have no doubt that the ring and pinion is 6.43:1 but Id bet the final drive is in the 18-20:1 range.
Also, a chromo 60 is stronger than a stock rockwell in the axle shaft and u-joint department but as most people figure out the tubes, outer inner Cs and knuckles arent up to the task of large AG tires. It hurts my heart to admit but Rocks with the Overson 2" shafts Dan mentioned would be my #1 choice for tires 44-50ish range. Anything above that Id look for ZFs and stop wasting my time with these oddball axles. Im sure the aftermarket support is non-existant as well as simple maintenance items being hard to find and expensive.

setup properly a d44 will handle a motor thats only putting out 600hp.
If your eating rocks, maybe find out what your doing wrong first.
