I have searched on the forums and cant find if there is website that sells just a new gasket for the third brake light. I asked the dealer they said $110 for a new assembly that comes with the nw gasket. its rain season in florida and my back seat is soaked. any help is appreciated.
$110? They must have used a really thick layer of real silver on the reflector.
I've never tried this myself, but if it ever happened to me, I would try putting some kind of a release agent on the truck and a layer of silicone on the light assembly, loosely screw it down until the silicon has cured, then finish screwing it down. If that didn't work, then I would clean it all up and glue it in with silicone.
I had mine done under warranty and the dealer used rtv on the assembly. no leaks. i would recommend changing the bulbs in the light, while you have it out, if you use rtv
