I have read threads about calibrating speedometers on Fords I have a 2001 Ford F-150 which has a speedometer with digital trip display and the miles per hour and trip miles are off I have read where to look for the wire to calibrate the speedometer is does any one know or have a picture wire this wire is at I have looked By the glove Box below it and have not found it yet or is it in a different place for my Ford 2001 F-150 4.2 V6 Help ayone
Never heard of a wire, you can calibrate it with a programmer or try to get the dealer to do it but they will most likely charge for an hour of work and they seem to have very limited tire sizes they can calibrate for. IMO the $70-$100 the dealer would want would be better spent going towards a programmer.
Speed is registered in the computer and transmitted to the dash micro processor for display.
The gear id is contained in the program.
What did you think a wire of some sort would do?
Most trucks are off from the factory.
A change in tire diameter will also cause the speedo to read incorrect.
Only way is using a programmer with the function but it's not worth the cost.
My 02 is high by 2 to 3 mph every time I go by a radar speed sign and there has been no chnages to the truck.
