I used coors light to get my gaps then I went and bought a fiberglass cab.
Sounds like maybe a tweak in the door. You might be able to build up the door rubber in that corner to push it out or have one of those door tweaking tools they so in the shop manual for the 56.
Got a big rubber mallet and a shop manual? Believe it or not the shop manual outlines the door adjustments and it involves slamming (or pushing hard) the door with the mallet between it and the cab.
Standard procedure for tweaking a door: If the bottom rear corner is in and the rest of the door fits well, open door and place a wooden baseball bat or 2x4 between door and frame at bottom rear corner. Close door until bat or board is holding door ajar, grab top of door frame and give it a strongman push inwards. Remove bat or board and check progress. Repeat as necessary until satisfactory alignment is achieved. Adjust hinges or striker as required for final fit.
Yes, this IS the right way to do it. A baseball bat is a standard body shop tool.

Yes, get it fitting as well as you can with the hinge adjustments, especially the hinge side and gaps before tweaking. I just barely snug the hinge bolts then gently close the door with a helper inside with a wrench. I support the door at the bottom with a 2x4 lever with a stack of short 2x4 cutoffs on the running board. I then shift the door around until I am happy with the fit then hold it there while the helper tightens the hinge bolts to secure the alignment.
I believe that much like the 52 year manuals, Ford produced that "Baseline" manual for the effies in 53 with all the info in them then in 54 rather than issue a completely new book, they issued just the portion that was particular to the 54s in the suppliment. So you would need the 53 manual and a 54 suppliment. That's where getting the CD is better.
Oddly for 1955, they reissued the complete book to cover 54 and 55.
