we put in some flat windows recently (2 people). we found it very useful to have some of the big suction cups (kind used on big glass panels) on the outside of the windshield to press up or in on the windshield as needed. dick r
I had my rear glass cut locally, off of a cracked original. Same issue couldn't get it to fit was too tight at the weld seams on the bottom corners of the frame, so I had the glass shop sand down the size about 1/16 all around, which they did at no extra charge. Fit snug but installed without execesive force being required.
Glass installer paid a house call today, after 40 minutes, front and rear window were installed.
We put the windshield in first, the four tabs that hold the rubber in needed tweaking (bent up so the glass would clear; have not bend them back over yet. The rubber puckers where the tabs are.
The back window went in with no problem, it was cut by the glass shop from the broken original. Worth noting is the installer pointed out that the rear window is only sitting in the opening, the inner upholstery will eventually hold the rubber seal from popping out, as it sits in the inner groove in the rubber.. I won't drive the truck for some time yet, but will make sure the upholstery is installed around the rear seal first.
Another hurdle overcome, feels like I can see the completion from here. I'm going to install my instrument cluster today..news at 11:00

It's very odd he should say that because the seal should be holding the window in - not any part of the interior liners.
Mine is IN there and I have not interior stuff yet.

I agree that doesn't sound right. It's possible you have the rubber installed incorrectly on the glass. Can you snap a pic and post it?
I can post a picture, I'm pretty sure the glass is installed correctly; the largest flange of the rubber is pulled out over the cab flange. I'm sure the window will stay in , but the inner lip that seats into the uphostery will definitely hold the window in place.
Did he install the window from the inside or the outside? I seem to recall the wider lip is on the inside. The small lip grabs ahold of the pinchweld and sits on the outside. The glass is supposed to install from inside the cab.
