Going to install rear window this weekend....
One question: Mastic goes between the glass and the rubber, got it.
Rubber goes on the window and then the window and rubber goes onto the cab from inside. Using 'rope' on the outside to 'slip the lip'.
QUESTION: Do I put mastic between the cab and the rubber gasket? Seems like I should, BUT I'm thinking that with the rope pull process, I'm gonna get mastic ALL over the place... just a big mess waiting to happen.
Yes... Put some of the non hardening sealant there.. It'll make a giant mess, but some sealant will be there. Get a roll of paper towels and a gallon of mineral spirits paint thinner ready to wipe up the excess.
I put the mastic between the glass and the rubber.. not between the rubber and the cab..
for cleanup.. put some plastic wrap on the body, and run a piece of painters tape along the bottom edge of the sill.. then you can peal it off later..
two rows of plastic wrap will keep the goo off the bed if you have one.
string overlapped almost window length, start at the top, finish at the bottom in the middle..
I sugest that you have help on the back glass, I have put in the front alone twice, but the back was a bear requiring an extra set of hands, ( My wifes) "edit" Oops, I see you already have got it, congrats
Jimmy is right... the rear window was much harder to do than the front.... Since I had already done the front one awhile ago, I thought the rear would be easy... It wasn't a big deal, but it was a lot harder than I anticipated.
