Hi all. NEw to me 1987 F250 carbureted, 460 V8. GOt a bunch of stuff sorted out already, but noticed a wiring mess at the bulkhead connector through the firewall. I traced the wiring out to the fuel tanks/selector valves.
The previous owner has spliced all kinds of wire together, removed fuel lines from the selector valve and installed an inline fuel filter. I'm looking for a wiring and fuel line diagram. I've searched the forum and I find diagrams for a bunch of different years and models, but not for this model. I'd like to wire it all back to factory original and then figure out what led the PO to rig it up this way.
Search the '80-'86 forum for "hot fuel handling"
Carbs were only available on 460's until mid 1987, but the same system was used in previous years.
The hot fuel handling system circulates fuel constantly to reduce or eliminate vapor lock that can effect a mechanical fuel pump like mine.
Edit:
What I meant by that -in this context- was that enikolich should search in the 80-86 subforum because the information on *carburetor* fuel pump wiring would be there.....
What I'm trying to say Dan, is that in mid 1987 460's in pickups became fuel injected (although 460 drivelines in chassis cabs and motorhomes w/ a GVW over 10,000 lbs continued to use carburetors.)
Is your 351 pickup over 8,500 GVW and non-catalyst?

Not sure what you're trying to say there but my 87 has a 351 in it, not sure what month it was built in anymore.

Reason: Re-read Dan's question.
Closing this thread. The wiring diagrams posted in this thread helped me solve the problem. The 6 port selecter valve is bad and I will replace tomorrow.
The other problem I had was the feed to the fuel pump relay. On the starter solenoid, there is an "I" terminal. This provides power to the fuel pump relay during engine cranking. That wire was shorted somewhere between the solenoid and the relay. I ran a new wire and fuse link and problem solved.
I am now on my way to starting a new thread related but different. Thangs again!!!
I lied. One last thing. I paid a one year subscription to alldata.com to get the remaining diagrams and info i needed. I just as easily could have ordered a factory service manual and waited for delivery, but this was an instant source of information. I was reluctant to pay for it, but after buying a Chiltons and a Haynes manual at the local parts places, the alldata subscription was waaaaay mmore valuable and detailed.
