6 port selector valve to 3 port selector valve
Hello All,
Started working on my 1985s fuel tank switching problem. I would switch to the rear tank and the level wouldn't register. The 1985 is a 6 port 5 pin selector valve.
So i went and Pulled a tank selector valve off a 1980. A much simpler 3 port 1 wire.
Since i intend to use the 1980s engine, tilt wheel, and eventually the wiring harnesses. Until i switch the cabs is there a way i can wire and plumb as well vent the front and rear tanks? From a 1985 6 port 5 wire to a 1980 3 port 1 wire.

No, I would ditch all the valves and run just on one tank. You will need to figure out the wiring at the 6 port valve also, the 6 port valve also switched the sending units from tank to tank. It's more complicated than you think, your diesel needs a return fuel line from the engine, that's why it uses a 6 port valve.

Any ideas on plugging the returns comming from the fuel tanks?

If you are going to use a engine setup that does not need the fuel returns, a short piece of hose with a bolt in it slid onto the return line at the sending unit would work well enough.
All diesel engines need the return line system, and most factory 460 setups used a return line system.

Do you by chance have any experience with bullnose era tilt wheel key cylinder removal?
