1978 f-250 fuel selector switch issues??
Hi all,
To start off with, the auxilary tank solenoid fuse is fine. The truck seems to be constantly sucking gas from the main tank. The gas gauge works when the fuel selector switch is on "main". As soon as I move the swith to "Aux", the fuel guage doesn't read anything and the truck continues to suck from the main tank. Solenoid fried?? Any ideas?? Anyone have a wiring diagram that shows the fuel selector switch and the aux fuel tank solenoid on it??
Thanks,

Yes, that would indicate that you solenoid has probably gone south. When they fail, they fail to the main tank. Nice to know if your in the boonies and it goes. Just switch the hoses leading to the solenoid and press on till you get it fixed. My fuel gauge did the same thing. I finally replaced the voltage regulator on the back of the instrument cluster and now it works fine.
